The Early Childhood Education program at Weymouth High School gives students hands-on experience working with young children in a real early learning environment. Students learn by doing, building skills through responsibility, teamwork, and daily practice.
Students train in our in-house Early Childhood Education Center, which serves children from infancy through five years old. Working alongside licensed educators, students support children’s learning and care while developing skills in child development, communication, and classroom management.
Through play-based activities, students help plan and lead lessons that build social, emotional, language, and motor skills. They also learn how to balance routines, adapt to different needs, and understand that every child grows at their own pace.
The Center follows all Early Education and Care regulations, giving students experience in a safe, professional, and licensed setting. By graduation, students earn certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and OSHA, as well as Infant/Toddler and/or Preschool Teaching Certificates through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
This program is a strong choice for students interested in careers in education, healthcare, or human services and offers a valuable head start for the future!
The Weymouth Early Childhood Education Center serves infants through five-year-olds. Community families are welcomed with priority enrollment given to Weymouth Public Schools staff and student parents.
