Welcome to the Commander Randall T. Boyd Jr. Planetarium!

No matter what the weather is outside, the stars always shine in Weymouth's Community Planetarium.

Weymouth’s Community Planetarium has many different programs available for families, scouting groups, civic groups, and, other organizations.

Fly across the Universe and be back by lunch! Can your other field trips do that?

School programs are live, multimedia lessons that are grade-level appropriate. They are designed to address the current MA Curriculum Frameworks and the Next Generation Science Standards. All of our planetarium programs are described on the planetarium home page and are tailored to various grade levels. Programs are approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes in length. Shows for very young astronomers may last less than 1 hour. Each program includes a tour of tonight’s sky highlighting the major stars and constellations currently visible and concluding with a Q&A session.

The planetarium is available for programs during normal school hours and follows the Weymouth School District calendar. After-school and evening programs can also be scheduled. The planetarium is closed during the summer.

The planetarium has a seating capacity of 67 under a 30-foot dome. The planetarium is completely handicap accessible and can accommodate wheelchairs.

If you have any questions or concerns, or wish to schedule a program please email the planetarium director, Michael Richard.
