Tiered SEL Interventions

SEL Tiered Intervention

Weymouth Public Schools uses the Massachusetts MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) Framework.  This framework is a proactive approach in identifying and addressing the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.  As part of our commitment to this framework, we created Pathways which provides a variety of skill-building opportunities for our secondary students in the least restrictive settings.  The Student Intervention Team (SIT) is in place to help support students currently struggling.  The process for student support can be found here.

This inclusive and strengthed based approach allows for Social-Emotional Learning interventions to happen during the school day, in all areas of learning, and for all students.  In order to meet the needs of all students, a variety of interventions are offered.

Tier 2 Pathways

WHS has a group of dedicated educators who work within our Tier 2 Pathways classroom to support students grades 8-12.  This support is available to all students and has a focus on:

  • Social-emotional learning
  • Executive functioning
  • Digital literacy
  • Various skill-building strategies

Tier 1 SEL Coaching

WHS also has a staff member available to offer support to staff members throughout the day to support our SEL initiatives in their classroom.  This coach supports:

  • Embedding SEL into daily instruction
  • Creating successful routines
  • Supporting students transitioning from other tiered services
  • Creating a positive classroom climate
